Introducing the Innovative Plant Root Simulator (PRS)™ to Turf

The PRS™-probe is being introduced to turf research as a high quality, low disturbance tool used for measuring soil nutrient supply rates. Western Ag Innovations has experience in using the PRS™ technology to help turfgrass researchers and is interested in expanding service to this field.

Why is the PRS™ a great fit for turfgrass research?

  • PRS™-probes provide a biologically-meaningful measure of the supply rate of all nutrients to roots, especially diffusion-limited nutrients, such as NH4+, P, and K.
  • PRS™-probes create minimal disturbance which should not interrupt play or turf maintenance, and is esthetically pleasing compared to collecting soil cores.
  • PRS™-probes measure the supply rate of all plant nutrients simultaneously eliminating need for multiple chemical extractions, resulting in a tremendous cost savings.
